In this 4-week computer class, participants will learn computer, Internet, search tool, and basic email concepts. Topics include: using a mouse, opening and closing windows, going to websites, navigating a website, using the online Library catalog, using google.com, as well as sending, replying to, and deleting emails.
Week 1 - July 9: Intro to Computers
<ul><li>Learn basic computer terminology.</li><li>Understand the mouse and its functions.</li><li>Perform basic computer tasks such as opening, closing, and scrolling in windows.</li><li>Familiarize yourself with a keyboard.</li><li>Gain an understanding of the various ways to shut down a computer.</li></ul>




Week 2 - July 16: Internet Basics
<ul><li>Learn about the Internet and the World Wide Web and become familiar with terminology.</li><li>Master basic skills to effectively access and navigate websites.</li><li>Explore the Oak Creek Public Library’s website and access information.</li><li>Explore the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel website and access information.</li><li>Access an online map through Google Maps and get directions. </li></ul>




Week 3 - July 23: Intro to Internet Search Tools
<ul><li>Locate library materials using CountyCat, the online Milwaukee County Library system catalog</li><li>Become familiar with CountyCat features for limiting searches and reserving library materials.</li><li>Perform queries in search engines and learn effective strategies for obtaining more accurate search results. </li></ul>


Week 4 - July 30: Email Basics
<ul><li>Learn about email and other forms of online communication.</li><li>Compose, send, and reply to messages.</li><li>Learn how to upload and open attachments.</li><li>Sign in and out of the email account.</li></ul>

Join us in the annual OCPL Puzzle Race! Teams of 2-4 members will compete to finish a 500-piece puzzle first within a 1.5 hour time limit. Please see the complete rules below:
<ul><li>Teams will be 2-4 players.</li><li>Each team will complete the same Ravensburger 500-piece puzzle.</li><li>All puzzles are new and sealed, therefore they will contain all of their pieces.</li><li>The time limit is one and a half hours. If no teams finish, all teams will be asked to stop at the same time. Staff will then count pieces to see who is closest to completing the puzzle.</li><li>Once you place all of your pieces, come up to the front to ring the bell!</li><li>Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.</li></ul>
This program is open to adults and teens and will be held in the Multi-purpose Room. Registration is required. Please limit your team to a minimum of two members and up to a maximum of four members.
