Carbon Monoxide Shut Down Hans Cleaners

Oak Creek police responded to Hans Cleaners on the 8800 block of S. Howell Ave. just before 10:30 a.m. Aug. 9 on a report of carbon monoxide

OAK CREEK, WI — Oak Creek police responded to Hans Cleaners on the 8800 block of S. Howell Ave. just before 10:30 a.m. Aug. 9 on a report of carbon monoxide problems.

According to the report, the meter was registering at 70 parts per million, which represents a significant decrease in oxygen availability to the human body.

OSHA states that 50 parts per million is the maximum allowable for 8-hours workplace expsure. Most fire departments require use of self-contained breathing apparatus for exposures above 50 parts per million.

An inspection department shut the business down until repairs for the electric meter as well as for the water heater and boiling system were completed.
