Carollton Students Participate in 'Pirates of Penzance' Performance

Opera for the Young paid the school a visit Wednesday.

Opera for the Young came to Carollton Elementary School on Wednesday with a special adaptation of Pirates of Penzance.

A chorus of Carollton students appeared onstage, performing along with Opera for the Young’s professional artists. The students played the parts of pirates, wards, and constables in the classic English opera by Gilbert and Sullivan.

Pirates of Penzance is a comic opera that includes a great deal of zany word play and physical comedy. It is an excellent springboard for discussions of the values of honesty, integrity, and respect for commitment.
