Cars Burglarized At 2 Oak Creek Gyms In Same Week: Report

Police say they're investigating multiple cars that were burglarized at two Oak Creek-area gyms.

OAK CREEK, WI -- Police in Oak Creek are investigating the second local gym car break-in in less than a week.

According to police reports, officers were dispatched to Rockstar Athletics, 442 W. Rawson Ave. just after 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 on a report that someone broke into a customer's car.

Reports indicated that the passenger-side window had been smashed out, and that a woman's purse had been stolen from inside the vehicle.

According to reports, the purse was valued at $60, with a $20 gray wallet inside. Inside the wallet was one credit card and two debit cards that were promptly canceled by the owner.

Two days later, police in Oak Creek responded to the Oak Creek Gym and Fitness, 1902 W. Ryan Rd. just after 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 26 on a report that several vehicles in the parking lot hand their windows smashed, and items stolen from inside each of the affected vehicles.

According to police reports, sometime between 6:20 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. that evening, an unknown suspect broke the driver's side window of one vehicle and the rear window of a second vehicle.

Reports stated that a woman's purse containing $500 had been stolen from one car along with her driver's license and a number of credit cards.

A second woman said her purse and $100 in cash were stolen from her car in addition to her driver's license and credit cards.

Police said they recommended that both women cancel their credit cards to eliminate the potential for fraud.

Police are continuing to investigate this case.
