Cat Stuck In Sewer Just Wouldn't Come For Police And Fire

A group of children was waiting for the school bus in the morning when their family cat got stuck in the sewer.

OAK CREEK, WI — A house cat who escaped his family's home got stuck in a sewer, and just wouldn't come out - even with the help of local police and fire departments.

On Jan. 5 Oak Creek police responded to a report of an animal complaint on the 7700 block of S. Manitowoc Ave. just before 8 a.m.

According to police reports, a group of children was waiting for the school bus in the morning when their family cat got stuck in the sewer.

The person who called police said that the cat went missing from the house while the children were waiting for the school bus. According to reports, the children knew where the cat when they heard him crying from below a sewer grate.

Oak Creek Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and attempted to rescue the cat, but the cat just wouldn't allow himself to be rescued. A ladder was lowered, so the cat could climb out. The area was blocked off and the sewer grate was left partially open so the cat could find its way out.

According to police reports, about two hours later, a person called police saying that the cat managed to climb out of the sewer on his own.
