Chant Claire Chamber Choir Announces Fall 2014 Concert

Local choir's next concert to take place at Milwaukee's Irish Cultural & Heritage Center on December 13, 2014

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Chant Claire Chamber Choir, a Milwaukee-based choir featuring skilled singers from throughout the Milwaukee area, announced that its Fall 2014 concert will be held on Saturday, December 13th at 7:00 PM at the city’s Irish Cultural & Heritage Center.

Located at 2133 W. Wisconsin Avenue, the Irish Cultural & Heritage Center is one of Milwaukee’s oldest and most culturally important gathering halls. This concert marks Chant Claire’s first performance at the venue.

“We’re extremely excited to be performing at the ICHC,” said Benjamin Bedroske, Director of Chant Claire. “It’s a beautiful facility with outstanding acoustics. We’re grateful for the chance to be able to fill the space with music.”

The concert will feature a variety of choral music by composers spanning several eras, including Gustav Holst, Ola Gjeilo and Moses Hogan, as well as arrangements of several popular folk tunes by artists like the Wailin’ Jennys and Great Big Sea. In addition to music from the choir, some songs will feature a piano or organ accompanist and a string quartet. This will be the first time Chant Claire has used organ or strings at any of its performances.

There is no charge for admission to the concert — seating will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. There will be an opportunity to make donations to the group, which will go toward rehearsal and performance space, music purchases and other administrative costs for the choir. The Irish Cultural & Heritage Center will have a cash bar open before and after the concert and during a 15-minute intermission.

Also included in concert repertoire will be several traditional holiday carols. Concertgoers will have the chance to join the choir in singing some favorite seasonal songs.

“There are a lot of ‘firsts’ for us as a choir with this concert, so it’s really going to be neat to see it all come together,” Bedroske said. “We’re looking forward to building on the success of our first season and bringing music to a larger audience in a beautiful venue.”

Chant Claire Chamber Choir was founded in Fall 2013 with the goal of providing experienced singers in the area with an outlet for performing challenging choral music. The organization rehearses weekly at Greendale Community Church in Greendale, WI.
