City 13, Oak Creek's First Escape Room, Is Now Open

OAK CREEK, WI — Imagine being trapped in a room with up to eight of your closest friends as you try to solve puzzles that lead to your escape.

That's the theme behind one of Oak Creek's newest businesses, City 13.

City 13, Oak Creek's first escape room, opened Dec 1. According to city officials, City 13 puts customers into a story where they have to use their surroundings to figure out clues, acquire new items, and complete puzzles to conquer the adventure. The catch? You and your teammates only have 60 minutes. Grab your friends, family, or your partner in crime and dive into a unique experience.

According to a Journal Sentinel article, the idea is the brainchild of Nick and Ashley Timber, who both grew up in the Oak Creek area, after Nick Timber spent a few years starting and operating an escape room in Waukesha.

According to a report from Forbes.com, escape rooms used to be an under-the-radar entertainment sensation for groups seeking a little adventure. Now they are popping up across the country. For example, there are now more than 60 escape businesses in the Los Angeles area alone, according to Forbes.

In Oak Creek, City 13 is located at 6925 S. 6th Street, Suite 500, also has a very large lobby space, perfect for corporate or special events, which they can cater.
