Colectivo Coffee Pulling Out of Mitchell International Airport

Colectivo is leaving three coffee kiosks at the airport, but a new shop is taking its place ...

MILWAUKEE --Colectivo (formerly Alterra) coffee has made a name for itself in the Milwaukee area for its strong coffee and trendy area shops.

But the next time you grab a coffee, espresso or latter from the popular purveyors of "strong coffee," it won't be at Mitchell International Airport.

That's because Colectivo will no longer be served at General Mitchell International Airport as of Friday, according to a release from the company.

According to a report by CBS 58, the three Colectivo kiosks at the airport were operated and managed under a licensing agreement with SSP America, not by Colectivo.

Colectivo chose to end their agreement with SSP who has operated all three locations at Mitchell since their inception in 2009, CBS 58 has reported.

"We are disappointed we will no longer have the opportunity to serve travelers at Mitchell Field," says Scott Schwebel, VP Brand, Marketing, Retail for Colectivo in the report, "Unfortunately, we could never consistently achieve the level of overall brand experience we demanded under SSP operations."

According to a WISN report, another brand is moving in: Milwaukee-based Valentine Coffee. It will be available at three locations throughout the airport: Concourse C, Concourse D and in the Concession Mall.
