College Ave. Bow Hunter Reported For Violations

A bow hunter was reported to authorities for multiple violations in Oak Creek.

OAK CREEK, WI — Oak Creek police responded to the 1000 block of W. College Ave. just before 3 p.m. on Nov. 24 on a report of a hunting violation.

According to police reports, a passerby reported a person setting up a deer hunting blind that appeared suspicious. The caller who reported the hunter to police stated he was concerned that the hunter was not shooting from an elevated position, citing Oak Creek's ordinance which calls for bow hunters to shoot toward the ground.

When police went to the scene, they located the hunter and confirmed that he was not shooting from an elevated position. The officer also reported that the hunter was wearing full camouflage, and not the minimum of 50 percent blaze orange as required by state law.

According to reports, the officer advised a local DNR warden of the information. The DNR warden told police he would be citing the hunter for failing to wear blaze orange while hunting, and would also speak with the hunter about shooting from an elevated position.
