Delphi Acquisition Talks Continue

City, Wispark working toward public-private partnership.

The city of Oak Creek and Wispark are negotiating the terms of a public-private partnership agreement that will spell out how the Delphi site acquisition will be structured.

The Common Council has toward the purchase of the property at 7929 S. Howell Ave. Under that agreement, Wispark will spend $6 million.

According to a report to council members, Wispark has entered into a purchase-and-sale agreement with Delphi that is expected to close on July 14. Wispark is now doing due diligence on any possible environmental problems on the site, a typical step before a property sale goes through.

The subject of a public-private partnership at Delphi came up during, with some questioning whether it will succeed. City officials maintained confidence that such an agreement between Wispark and Oak Creek will help pave the way for redevelopment at Delphi. 

The Common Council is schedule to discuss the public-private partnership, which may involve the city's Community Development Authority becoming a joint owner, at its meeting Tuesday.
