Drunk Driver in Oak Creek Had 3 Kids in Car When Vehicle Struck Tree, Light Pole

Police reported there were three passengers in the vehicle, all under the age of 16.

OAK CREEK, WI — A Milwaukee resident traveling through Oak Creek on New Year's day has been arrested after police say he was driving drunk with three children in his vehicle when the vehicle struck multiple objects.

According to the report, police responded to the 200 block of E. Drexel Ave. just before 6 a.m. on New Year's Day on a report of a property damage motor vehicle accident.

When officers arrived on the scene, they learned that a minivan driven by a 32-year-old Milwaukee resident went off the roadway, struck a tree and then struck a light pole on Drexel Ave.

The report stated there were three passengers in the vehicle, all under the age of 16.

The children were picked up by their mother after the vehicle they were traveling in sustained severe damage to the front end, and the driver and passenger sides of the vehicle.

Oak Creek police reports indicate the driver failed field sobriety tests and registered a blood alcohol concentration exceeding Wisconsin's legal limit of .08.
He was issued citations for OWI-1st, operating after suspension, and operating while intoxicated with passengers under 16 years of age.
