Drunk Driver Passes Out In Taco Bell Drive-Through: Report

Oak Creek police say a drunk driver placed his order at Taco Bell in the drive-through, only to pass out on his way up to the window.

OAK CREEK, WI — Oak Creek police responded to the Taco Bell at 8261 S. Howell Ave. just before midnight on March 5 on a report of a drunk driver.

According to police reports, a drunk driver in a Buick ordered food at the Taco Bell drive-through but hadn't pulled up to the pickup window in 16 minutes.

Reports stated that Taco Bell employees went outside to check on the driver and it appeared that he passed out behind the wheel in the drive-through while the car was running and in drive.

Officers responding to the Taco Bell quickly spotted the asleep driver and were eventually able to wake him up. Police reported that the driver had bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol.

According to police reports, he was asked to step out of his car at least five times, and he refused each time. After a sixth try, officers removed the man from his car in the drive-through and arrested him for resisting/obstructing an officer.

Reports state he was subjected to field sobriety tests, which he failed, and returned a .21 blood alcohol concentration on a preliminary breath test. He was issued a municipal citation for resisting/obstructing an officer, and citations for OWI-2nd offense and was held in jail for 12 hours before he was released.

Officers managed to move the man's vehicle to a different spot at the Taco Bell.
