OAK CREEK, WI — The estate of a man who died after a fall during construction of the Oak Creek Amazon warehouse is suing Amazon and other construction contractors for wrongful death, federal court documents filed Aug. 6 show.

Zachary Dassow, 24, of Kansasville died at the facility when it was under construction in 2019, Patch previously reported. Dassow drove a four-wheeler out of an open window, police said when the death happened. He was using the vehicle to haul construction equipment around the job site when he fell 30-50 feet.

Documents filed by Dakota Daniels in the Wisconsin Eastern District Court claim multiple parties, including construction contractors and Amazon, were negligent, leading to wrongful death of Dassow.

The complaint filed seeks a 12 person jury trial to settle it. The plaintiff claims Amazon and other contracted companies failed to "furnish a place of employment, which was a safe place for employees," and claims "as a direct and proximate cause of one or more of the defendant Amazon's actions," Dassow received severe injuries and death.

The complaint further claims that Dassow's family experienced significant injuries such as "the loss of companionship and society, grief, sorrow and mental anguish," and Dassow's estate was diminished because of hospital bills and funeral expenses.

The family's lawyers demanded judgment against Amazon for an amount greater than $50,000, court filings show.
