Franklin Police Stop Vehicle Break-In Wave In A Week: Report
After 5 vehicle thefts and 16 break-ins in a week, Franklin police say they were able to put a stop to it.
FRANKLIN, WI — Oak Creek's neighbor to the west has also been experiencing a rash of vehicle break-ins and vehicle thefts.
According to the Franklin Police Department, five vehicles that had keys left in them were stolen from driveways and garages between May 21 and May 29. Police also said that 16 unlocked vehicles were entered, with items being taken from inside most of the vehicles.
Franklin police say that four of the five stolen vehicles ended up being recovered in Milwaukee, and that several vehicles stolen in other parts of the area were recovered in Franklin over that time.

"To date we have arrested several people for auto theft or being a passenger in a stolen auto," Franklin police said in a statement. "There are several identified suspects we, and other jurisdictions, are looking for at this time. There are several more suspects we are in the process of identifying."
Police in Franklin say they've been proactively addressing the vehicle break-in issue, and since last Wednesday there have been no vehicle thefts or entries in the city.

"That being said, we are not letting our guard down and will continue to engage in enhanced patrols and use of covert surveillance," police in Franklin said. :We are working closely with other communities that are experiencing the same problem."
