Fraud Suspect Fled, Died In Pond Near Franklin Walmart: Police
Police say a fraud suspect is dead after he fled police, jumped into a pond near the Franklin Walmart and never resurfaced on Saturday.

FRANKLIN, WI — Police say a fraud suspect is dead after he fled police, jumped into a pond near the Franklin Walmart and never resurfaced on Saturday.
According to Franklin police, on Saturday at about 2:30 p.m., officers were called to the business corridor along S. 27th St. along the Franklin-Oak Creek border, on a report of a fraud complaint at one of the area businesses. Police did not report which business had been affected but indicated it was on the 6500-block.
Franklin police said an officer was questioning the apparent suspect, when he fled from the officer, jumped into his vehicle and fled the scene. Police said he fled west along W. Sycamore.

According to a FOX 6 report, the suspect collided with another vehicle on the 3100 block of W. Sycamore.
The suspect's car spun out and ended up on the grass outside of the Walmart parking lot. FOX 6 reported that witnesses saw the male suspect run from that crash scene, and toward a retention pond, where he jumped in.
The FOX news report said that the Franklin dive team pulled the suspect from the pond 20 minutes later. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released to the public as of Saturday evening.
