Hundreds of Animals Benefit From Eagle Scout Project

Nathaniel Yost put in more than 150 hours helping the Wisconsin Humane Society.

Oak Creek resident Nathaniel Yost was honored by the Oak Creek Common Council Tuesday night for a massive project benefiting the Wisconsin Humane Society.

Yost, with his strong love for animals, created 52 dog and cat beds, 52 dog toys and 71 cat toys to donate to the Wisconsin Humane Society. He put in more than 151 man hours organizing a fundraising drive, collecting monetary and material donations, planning three workshops and coordinating the efforts of numerous volunteers to construct the fleece beds, according to a resolution.

"Thanks to Nathaniel, hundreds of animals at the Wisconsin Humane Society were provided with a safe toy and a warm bed in which to sleep," the resolution states.

And Yost didn't stop there. A surplus of contributions allowed him to purchase items from the humane society's "wish list," like water dishes, cat litter, dog treats and small mammal water bottles.

A Court of Honor was held last week at to confer the Eagle Award. Less than 4 percent of all scouts actually achieve the honor, which is the highest award that can be bestowed upon a boy scout.
