I-94 Ryan Road Interchange Project Underway In Oak Creek
Orange traffic control barrels will appear as temporary traffic signals are put into place, followed by overpass reconstruction.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s long-anticipated reconstruction of the Ryan Road interchange is officially underway, and local officials are urging motorists to plan alternate routes as construction continues.
According to officials, the project will transform the interchange from its current spread ramp configuration to a “tight-diamond” set-up, similar to the more recent interchange projects at Rawson and at Drexel.
Orange traffic control barrels will appear as temporary traffic signals are put into place, followed by a staged reconstruction of the I-94 overpass.

The first bridge to be removed and rebuilt will be the westbound span, starting in mid-December, during which traffic will be funneled down to share the current eastbound bridge with one lane of traffic in each direction.
Then that process will be flipped to have two-way traffic share the newly constructed westbound bridge while the eastbound span is constructed. There will also be periodic overnight closures of interchange ramps during times of large-scale demolition or construction where working near live traffic is too dangerous.

What to Expect:
Late October to early December 2017
• Single-lane closures on Ryan Road from 22nd Street to 13th Street to construct crossovers, install temporary lighting/signals, and temporary drainage. Overnight closures of the northbound and southbound exit ramps to Ryan Road are also anticipated during this period.
• The Park and Ride lot located at Ryan Road and I-94 will close December 3 and is anticipated to reopen in fall 2018.
The project is expected to take at least one full year to complete, wrapping up in November 2018.
