Oak Creek Bar Burglar Takes $6,000 Hidden In Dishwasher: Report

Police say a bar in Oak Creek hid their money in a dishwasher for the night - and that a burglary suspect knew exactly where to find it.

OAK CREEK, WI -- Police in Oak Creek say that the popular Oak Creek watering hole Jim Dandy's was burglarized when a suspect broke in after hours, and stole a money bag containing $6,000 that had been hidden in the establishment's dishwasher.

Authorities say they're trying to figure out who did it.

According to police reports, officers were called to Jim Dandy's, 8900 S. 27th St. in Oak Creek just before midnight on March 17 on a report of a burglar alarm that went off inside the building.

Reports stated that the building's east kitchen door alarm went off, and that a neighbor went to see what happened only to find that the door had been forced open.

According to reports, officers talked with the man who first confirmed the break-in. During questioning, the man told police that money had also been stolen.

During their investigation, police learned that a bartender closed up the building for the night and placed the establishment's money inside a dishwasher for the night.

Police reports indicated that video surveillance showed a suspect breaking into the east-side door at 11:30 p.m., only to walk straight to that same dishwasher.

Police reports indicated the suspect opened the dishwasher and removed a money bag that contained $6,000 in cash and several employee pay checks.

According to police reports, the suspect then left in a two-door white pickup truck.
