Kwik Trip Clerk Gave Fake $100 Bill Back To Customer: Report

Police said that a Kwik Trip employee notified them that a man came into their 13th Street store and tried to use a fake $100 bill.

OAK CREEK, WI -- Police in Oak Creek are investigating an apparent fraud case after a Kwik Trip employee notified police that a man came into their 13th Street store and tried to use a fake $100 bill.

According to police reports, just before 11 a.m. on Sep. 9, a man came into the store and tried to use a fake $100 bill to buy a prepaid Visa gift card and a variety of candy.

According to reports, the clerk working the cash register looked at the bill and suspected that it was fake. Another employee recommended not accepting the bill as payment. The clerk gave the $100 bill back to the customer, who then left the property.

According to reports, the man was described as about 5-foot-7 and weighed about 250 pounds. H ewas wearing a gray and red hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants at the time of the attempted transaction.

Police said that they were unable to verify whether the $100 bill was fake because the clerk gave it back to the customer that night.
