Landscapers Have Run-In With Coyotes, Authorities Urged Caution

OAK CREEK, WI -- Concerns over coyotes led to a local worker to call police after an incident between a landscaper and a coyote den on July 2.

According to Oak Creek police call logs, a landscaper was working on the property of the Steel Warehouse of Wisconsin on the 500 block of W. Forest Hill Ave. during the afternoon of July 2 when a mishap led the landscape worker to drive over the coyote den by accident with a vehicle.

Police call logs stated that the den, which was hard to see, may have had coyote pups in it. Oak Creek police called the DNR to investigate.

According to the DNR warden who responded to the scene, there were no injured animals, and advised both employees of the business and the landscapers to exercise extra caution around the area, as the coyotes' mother may be more protective than usual.

Police call logs stated that the landscaping employees had been concerned the prior week on account of the mother coyote being aggressive around the den.

The officer on-scene advised the landscapers to avoid the general area of the den if possible.
