That night will feature an encore performance of Wagner's Die Walkure (The Valkyrie), which played at South Shore a few weeks ago.
The opera first premiered in 1870 and tells the tale of the Norse god Siegfried, who was conceived by the twins Sieglinde and Siegmund. In it, Brunnhilde - leader of the Valkyries - hides and protects Sieglinde during her pregnancy, defying an order from Wotan, mightiest of the gods.

The production reportedly features an extravagant $16 million set along with persistent action and impressive costumes.
The Peabody and Emmy-award winning The Met: Live in HD seriesfeatures live, high-definition simulcasts of operas performed at the historic Metropolitan Opera House in New York’s Lincoln Square. It allows people across the country to be part of the audience for The Met’s acclaimed performances, but from the comfort of their nearby cineplex.

Die Walkure begins at 6:30 p.m. and has a lengthy runtime of 330 minutes. Admission for the showing is $18.
The Met: Live in HD will return for its next season in October.
