Man Caught In Bender Park After Speeding, Fleeing Police: Report

Police say a driver fled a traffic stop - only to get caught hanging out in Bender Park later that night.

OAK CREEK, WI — Police say they caught up with the driver of a vehicle who fled police through Oak Creek. Police say although the man fled police, he was caught a short time later with marijuana in their car.

According to police reports, the incident began just after 8 p.m. on April 4, in the 2800 block of Highway 100. Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on two vehicles that were seen traveling between 77 and 86 miles per hour on Highway 100.

Police say they managed to pull over both vehicles, only to have the driver of the second vehicle flee police at a high rate of speed.

According to police reports, police pursued his vehicle, terminating their pursuit at the Mitchell International Airport spur - a total distance of 9.4 miles.

Later, an officer on patrol in Bender Park spotted the man's vehicle in the lower lot and ordered a drug-sniffing dog to the scene.

According to police reports, K9 officer Nox sniffed the exterior of the car and indicated the presence of possible narcotics. A search of the vehicle turned up 5.2 grams of marijuana in a ziplock bag in the armrest along with a marijuana pipe and rolling papers.
