Man Charged in Oak Creek Marijuana Grow Operation

A 52-year-old Oak Creek man told police "this day would come" when Oak Creek police executed a search warrant at his Michigan Ave.

OAK CREEK -- A 52-year-old Oak Creek man told police "this day would come" when Oak Creek police executed a search warrant at his Michigan Ave. home on suspicion of a marijuana grow operation there.

Scott Pratt, 52, of Oak Creek has been charged with one count of Manufacture of a Controlled Substance (THC) (>200-1,000 grams >4-20 plants), and could face up to three years prison or up to $10,000 in fines, or both if he is convicted.

Oak Creek police officers executed a search warrant at Pratt's residence on the 1600 block of Michigan Ave. in the City of Oak Creek. The target of the search warrant was the defendant Scott Pratt and officers expected to find a marijuana grow operation in the residence.

When officers went to execute the search warrant the defendant answered the door and the defendant stated he expected that this day would come. An officer searched the basement of the residence and located numerous items including:

  • A freezer bag containing 227.4 grams (about a half-pound) of marijuana in freezer (tested positive for THC using Nark pouch II) was located in the basement freezer
  • A Tupperware container containing a green wax substance was located in the kitchen freezer and that substance tested positive for THC
  • Several pounds of bags containing stems and leaves (suspected to be marijuana) in a shed and a garage and the basement.
  • Several grow lights
  • 64 plant bulbs
  • 11 marijuana plants were located in the grow room in the basement
  • A digital scale and labels for “Happy Frog” and “Hippies Cabbage”

Another officer spoke with Pratt and he agreed to make a statement. Pratt said he began to use marijuana in 2012-13. He stated he was buying several hundred dollars of marijuana a week, the complaint said.

Pratt went on to say that in 2013-14 he started his marijuana grow operation from his home, claiming he has had only four harvests and the marijuana plants in his basement were four to five months old, the complaint said.

According to the complaint, Pratt said he grew the marijuana for personal use and he does not sell it, claiming he got about a pound of marijuana per harvest and that he held onto all of the excess leaves and stems from his previous grow operations.
