Man Passed Out While Cooking Prior To Fire Call: Report

Officials said a man passed out while cooking.

OAK CREEK, WI -- Police responded to the Village Green Apartments at 500 E. Centennial Drive just before 2 p.m. on Dec. 23 on a report of a fire.

According to police reports, an apartment resident called 911 after seeking smoke in the stairwells, and hearing the sound of a smoke alarm. Authorities tracked the source of the smoke down to an apartment, and went inside.

According to reports, authorities learned that a 47-year-old Oak Creek man had been highly intoxicated and was cooking something in a pot on the stove when he passed out due to his intoxication level. Reports stated that the contents of the pot started to burn, which caused the smoke.

Police reports stated that the man was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation and due to his intoxication level.
