Man Seen Sleeping In Car Tried Driving Away From Police: Report

Police said the man refused to roll down his window, or open his door to talk with officers.

OAK CREEK, WI -- Oak Creek police say a man seen sleeping in his car tried driving away from officers when they roused the man by tapping on the window.

According to Oak Creek police reports, officers responded to a business on the 9600 block of S. 20th St. just after 2:30 a.m. on Christmas Eve on a report of a person who was asleep in their vehicle next to the tire shop.

According to reports, the vehicle was still running, and the passerby who found the man was reluctant to approach the man in his vehicle.

When police arrived, officers said an officer knocked on the driver's side window to wake the 41-year-old Milwaukee man up.

Police said the man refused to roll down his window, or open his door to talk with officers. Instead, police said the man put his car in drive and tried to leave.

According to reports, officers broke the window of the vehicle in order to gain entry and prevent the man from leaving. He was then arrested on suspicion of resisting an officer.

Reports indicated he was released from custody after booking.
