Man Suffers Amputation In Oak Creek Industrial Accident: Report

The officer saw a bone protruding from the man's arm and active pulsing blood from the injury, according to police reports.

OAK CREEK, WI — Police, and rescue responded to the Campione Enterprises building on the 2200 block of W. Southbranch Blvd. on a report of an industrial accident.

According to police reports, a 911 caller alerted police just before 6 a.m. on Aug. 5 on a report that an employee got their arm caught in a machine, and that part of his arm had been amputated with a lot of blood.

Police reports indicate that the employee was sitting on the factory floor over a floor drain while wearing a towel over his apparent injury. The officer saw a bone protruding from the man's arm and active pulsing blood from the injury.

Oak Creek Fire Department officials told Patch that the man was holding a tool that got caught in a conveyor belt, resulting in the serious arm injury. By the time first responders arrived on the scene, the man's arm had been freed from the industrial equipment.

According to the report, the man's injury happened about two inches above his wrist on his right arm.

Reports stated that the responding officer applied a tourniquet to the man's arm to halt the blood flow to the injury.

Oak Creek fire responded during this treatment by the officer and transported the injured worker to Froedtert Hospital. Police notified OSHA of the industrial accident.
