Man Tried Boarding Bus To Flee Accident He Was In: Report

OAK CREEK, WI — Police in Oak Creek say a man involved in a traffic accident outside the Oak Creek Meijer attempted to board a city bus in order to flee the scene.

According to Oak Creek Police call logs, officers were called out to the 100 block of W. Drexel Ave. at just after 3 p.m. on July 26 on a report that the driver of a vehicle was waiting for a red light in the area when his vehicle was struck from behind. According to police, the driver of the striking vehicle, later identified as Ivan Flores-Herrera, left his vehicle in traffic, and was found stumbling around in the area of Meijer.

According to police call logs, an Oak Creek police officer found Flores-Herrera stumbling around so much that he was unable to complete standard field sobriety tests.

Police say Flores-Herrera was driven back to the accident scene to perform the tests. When officers searched his vehicle, they reportedly found about 18 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Police say they cited Flores-Herrera for his third drunk driving offense, hit and run, operating a vehicle with a revoked driver's license, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
