Meadowmere Celebrates Ten Years in Oak Creek

Senior-living facility has 149 residents and 63 employees.

It's been ten years since the Meadowmere Senior Living Community opened in Oak Creek, and residents and employees didn't let the birthday go by without a party.

Champagne glasses and a live band were on hand Wednesday to celebrate the occasion inside , 701 E. Puetz Road, the oldest of three buildings that make up the senior-living complex.

"Ten years went by very quickly," said Laurie Jarvis, Meadowmere executive director.

Jarvis, who has worked at Meadowmere for the past six-and-a-half years, said the community really is that - a close-knit group that has become a family. Some employees have been there all ten years.

"We definitely offer a friendly face and a familiar face to our residents," she said.

The facility has good working relationships within the community, including at Oak Creek High School, where students in the school-to-work program have worked at Meadowmere.

Jarvis said she loves the location in Oak Creek because the residents here are second-to-none.

"The people on the south side are the friendliest in Milwaukee County, absolutely," she said.

The facility is owned by Five Star Quality Care, which purchased Meadowmere about three-and-a-half years ago. It offers restaurant-style dining, round-the-clock staff, recreational and social activities, religious services and much more.
