Meadowview Elementary School's 'Relay Recess' to help Fight Cancer

The Relay Recess program is the elementary school component of the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life movement.

OAK CREEK - This Tuesday, on May 24, more than 400 students, teachers, and staff at Meadowview Elementary School will take part in their 5th annual American Cancer Society Relay Recess to raise awareness about how physical activity, nutrition, and other healthy behaviors can lower the risk for cancer.

Leading up to the Relay Recess event, students raised funds for the American Cancer Society through theme days (e.g., hat day), teachers shared tips about cancer prevention, and each school day started with a fitness activity.

The Relay Recess program is the elementary school component of the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life movement. It combines cancer education, physical activity, and fundraising through tools and resources used by teachers and administrators.
