Meijer Armed Robber Shot By Police: Report

Police say they shot and injured a man accused of staging an armed robbery at the Meijer gas station Tuesday in Oak Creek.

OAK CREEK, WI — Police in Oak Creek say that a man is in stable condition after he was shot by police following an armed robbery and a standoff.

According to police, the man - who has yet to be identified by authorities, staged an armed robbery at the Meijer Gas Station in Oak Creek on Tuesday morning and managed to flee the scene.

Police obtained surveillance footage photos and asked the public for assistance in locating him.

According to Oak Creek police, at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to a home on the 3800 block of E. American Ave. on a follow-up on that armed robbery.

According to police, the suspect saw Oak Creek police squads coming into the neighborhood and ran into his house. Police set up a perimeter around the home and attempted negotiations with him.

Police said that during the negotiations, the suspect pointed a firearm at the officers, and police fired at the suspect, striking him once in the left arm.

Police said that officers as well as tactical medics from the Oak Creek Fire Department made contact with the suspect, and rendered aid to him. He was transported to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa where he remains in stable condition.

According to police, the officer who fired the striking bullet was a 12-year veteran on the force.
