Meijer Customers Busted For Finding 'Coupon Loophole:' Report
Police were told that a group of customers found a "coupon loophole" that allowed them to rack up hundreds of dollars in discounts.

OAK CREEK, WI — Police in Oak Creek say a group of Meijer customers took advantage of a "coupon loophole" that allowed them to rack up hundreds of dollars in store discounts at the automatic checkout counter.
Oak Creek police responded to the Meijer at 171 W. Town Square Way just after midnight on May 19 on a fraud complaint.
According to store management at Meijer, a group of several customers was using "fake coupons" to get hundreds of dollars off the sale price of store products.

Police reports indicated that the customers left with three cart-loads of merchandise and left heading east on Drexel Ave. Police reportedly found the vehicle the suspects were driving in and conducted a traffic stop on I-94 near Drexel Ave.
According to police reports, the three people inside the car admitted to being at Meijer but denied attempting any kind of fraud.

According to police reports, police talked with Meijer staff who believed the suspects found a loophole in the self-checkout lanes that allowed them to re-use coupons that were intended to be limited to one item.
Reports stated that Meijer staff were able to recover the items.
According to reports, police warned group members about their activities at the store, and they were released without further incident.
