Meijer Thief Couldn't Find Car Keys, Couldn't Outrun Police: Cops

Police said a woman was seen on the store's security camera leaving the store with three bags and jewelry without paying for them.

OAK CREEK, WI -- A woman who couldn't find her keys in the middle of a clothing heist was caught after police found her fleeing on foot, according to Oak Creek police.

According to Oak Creek police, a loss prevention officer at the Oak Creek Meijer called police just before midnight on Nov. 20 on a report that a woman was seen on the store's security camera leaving the store with three bags and jewelry without paying for them.

According to reports, the woman couldn't find her keys, and resorted to fleeing the store on foot. When police arrived, they reported easily catching up with the woman in the Meijer parking lot with several bags of merchandise that had not been paid for.

According to police, the woman admitted to taking the items, and the store's loss prevention officer informed police that he saw the woman rip tags off of unpaid merchandise before leaving the store.

The woman ended up trying to take 36 items totaling $459.27, according to reports. She was cited for retail theft.
