Milwaukee Business Journal Profiles Oak Creek Development
What's in store for Oak Creek development? The Business Journal's report offers a compelling glimpse:

OAK CREEK -- Oak Creek has pushed development forward in a big way, and the Milwaukee Business Journal is taking a deep dive into what has happened and what's in store for the south shore community.
According to the Business Journal's report, the city of Oak Creek has been busy over the last few years, building Drexel Town Square, bringing in businesses, and attracting the state's first Ikea store. But the activity doesn't stop here. Wispark's OakView Business Park continues to grow, and the city is opening hundreds of acres of lakefront property as another added amenity.

When Steve Scaffidi was elected mayor in April 2012, big decisions awaited on the redevelopment of the former Delphi site, 7929 S. Howell Ave., which was arguably the top issue throughout the campaign.
At the time, Scaffidi has said the city must study carefully and consider residents' input in the type of businesses that will go on the empty 85 acres at the corner of Drexel and Howell.
Fast forward three years later, and Drexel Towne Square is the city's pristine new municipal complex and one of the hottest development sites in the Milwaukee area.

The Future
Scaffidi announced that he is not going to run for a third term. His current term runs through April 2018. Until then, he's going to be busy.
He's got a wish list that contains several ambitious projects. According to the Business Journal's report, he is getting involved in Milwaukee County discussions around public transportation with Metro Go and the leadership council for transit in Milwaukee.
