The Promise of Ages is the theme of this year’s December concert by the Milwaukee Choristers (milwaukeechoristers.org). The 75-voice chorus, under the direction of Dr. James B. Kinchen, Jr., will perform Friday, Dec. 12 and Saturday, Dec. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Visitation Church in Elm Grove (1260 Church Street).
Advance tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and $6 for students. Those tickets may be purchased online at milwaukeechoristers.org or by calling 414-354-1933. Tickets also may be purchased at the door, where the prices will be $20, $17 and $8 respectively. All seating is general admission.
Inspired by the line from John Jacob Niles’ “I Wonder as I Wander,” the program will include John Rutter’s stirring arrangement of this Appalachian folk hymn, Daniel Pinkham’s Christmas Cantata with brass accompaniment, James Mulholland’s Carols of Christmas with brass and organ, “Carol of the Bells” and “I’ll be Home for Christmas.” Selections by Eric Whitacre and Felix Mendelssohn and audience sing-along carols are also planned.
