Motorcyclist Has Drunk Driving Crash After Bike Blessing: Report

Police arrested a South Milwaukee man after they say he drove while intoxicated, got into a crash and was caught with marijuana.

OAK CREEK, WI — A South Milwaukee man who recently attended a bike blessing fell on hard times almost immediately after leaving the parking lot.

According to Oak Creek police reports, a South Milwaukee man pulled out of the parking lot on his motorcycle at the American Legion Post 434 in Oak Creek on Sunday, only to immediately hit a truck traveling down Shepherd.

According to police reports, when officers approached the man, the officer noticed the strong odor of intoxicants coming from him. Officers also saw him with a small bag containing two grams marijuana in his hand after the accident, reports stated.

Police said the man refused to take field sobriety tests and submit himself to a preliminary breath test for alcohol consumption, but admitted to drinking two beers at the bike blessing.

According to reports, he was cited for operating while intoxicated, was cited for possession of marijuana and was arrested for having an open warrant out of South Milwaukee for operating with a suspended license, and for operating without insurance.

He was booked and later released, according to reports.
