OAK CREEK, WI – July 4th is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you this Independence Day. Weather

Independence Day

A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. Light southeast wind becoming south 5 to 10 miles per hour in the morning.

Thursday Night

A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. South wind around 5 miles per hour, becoming calm in the evening.

Annual Parade

Where: American Legion Post 434, 9327 S Shepard Ave, Oak Creek.

When: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Kids' Contest

The Mayor’s Bike, Wagon, & Stroller Decorating Contest is back. Children 12 years old and younger can participate. The contest will be held at the American Legion Post 434. Registration is at noon and judging is at 1 p.m. First, second and third-place prizes will be awarded in each category. Please – no hover boards. This year, there are three themed categories:

• Mayor’s Theme: America the Beautiful
• Mom, I did it myself!
• Most Patriotic
