T-Shirt Texts Are Possible Scam: Oak Creek Fire Department

Oak Creek residents may have received text messages advertising a "limited edition t-shirt" from the Fire Department. It's possibly a scam.

OAK CREEK, WI — The City of Oak Creek and the Oak Creek Fire Department said residents who received a text message advertising a "limited edition t-shirt" from the fire department should not click any links, as it may be a scam.

The city said in a news release the messages are not actually coming from the fire department.

"To protect your personal information, we recommend that you do not follow the link or respond to the text message. Please simply delete the text message if you receive one," the city said.

The text messages sent out read: "[City of Oak Creek Fire Department] Tshirt (Limited Edition)>" with a link attached that authorities said not to click.

The fire department added in Facebook post residents should not respond to the message, even to opt-out.
