Oak Creek Man Arrested In Domestic Violence Case: Report

OAK CREEK, WI -- An Oak Creek man has been arrested and police are recommending charges of strangulation and suffocation following an apparent domestic violence incident in the 500 block of W. Riverwood Drive on the morning of April 27.

According to police reports, an anonymous caller called police at just after 6 a.m. that morning, reporting that they overheard a woman screaming and hearing loud bangs from inside the apartment.

When police arrived, they heard similar sounds coming from the apartment, the report indicated. Police made contact with a 22-year-old Oak Creek man and a 21-year-old Oak Creek woman at the apartment, according to reports.

Police reports stated that upon questioning, the man told officers that he became embroiled in a verbal altercation with the woman, but that it turned physical. Police in their investigation learned that the man got on top of the woman during the physical altercation just after 3 a.m., choking her with one hand while attempting to cover her mouth with the other.

According to police reports, the altercation started over an apparent issue with the woman's cell phone. Police reported that the man had scratch marks on his body and that the woman had a bloody lip, and scratch marks to her arm.

Police said the man was arrested on suspicion of strangulation and suffocation.
