Oak Creek Ordinance Would Ban Weapons in Government Buildings

Ordinance would also prohibit city employees from carrying firearms.

The Oak Creek Common Council on Tuesday will take up a measure that would prohibit people from carrying weapons, concealed or otherwise, inside city-owned buildings, such as City Hall or the .

The ordinance comes in advance of the state's new concealed-carry law, which takes effect Nov. 1. The ordinance would also prohibit city employees, except law enforcement officers, from carrying weapons and firearms while they are working.

A sign would be posted near the entrance of all government buildings, according to the proposal.
