Oak Creek Police Lecture Dad Who Let Child Drive Van

An officer counseled the parent and the child on the laws and consequences of underage driving.

OAK CREEK, WI — Oak Creek police responded to the Kwik Trip on 10th St. just before 6 p.m. on the evening of Sep. 25, after a concerned citizen called police after seeing an apparent 10-year-old girl driving a van.

According to police reports, police responded and made contact with the parent of the child, who admitted to letting his 13-year-old stepdaughter drive the van from the gas pumps to the parking stall.

When questioned about this, reports indicate the man said he was trying to teach the girl how to drive. He stated his mother was sick, he works a lot and wanted her to know how to use the vehicle in case of an emergency.
