Typical and Atypical Development in Young Children presented by 'Kohl's Building Blocks & Penfield Children's Center' Jan.24th 1:30-2:30

New for 2015 at the Oak Creek Public Library:
‘Parent Workshops’ presented by Kohl’s Building Blocks & Penfield Children’s Center. There will be a different topic discussed the 4th Saturday of each month (January-April) 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Workshops will increase knowledge of child development , manage expectations, show how to advocate for children and how to access community resources. They are 45 minutes to one hour in length. Child supervision will be provided in the East meeting room, while workshop will take place in West meeting room.

January 24th: Typical and Atypical Development in Young Children
This workshop discusses the overall development of children in five developmental areas (fine motor, gross motor, cognition, communication, and behavior) and directs parents to local resources if they have concerns about their child’s development.

After attending this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Define typical (healthy) development.
2. Recognize typical (healthy) development milestones of the five developmental areas.
3. Recognize signs or cues that may indicate a developmental delay in any of the five developmental areas.
4. Name referral resources for ages birth to three and three plus.
