Oak Creek Woman Has Rare Tumor; Benefit Planned for This Saturday

Monica Caughlin recently learned she has Acoustic Neuroma; Impressive list of items heads up silent auction this weekend.

OAK CREEK -- A 2001 Oak Creek High School graduate and mother of two is having a benefit and silent auction to cover her medical expenses after a simple hearing test revealed something much more serious.

Monica Caughlin, owner of her own Photography Studio and also a part-time office employee with the Wauwatosa School district began to notice a "plugged" feeling in her ear recently.

She decided to have a hearing test, and an emergent MRI scan revealed she had an acoustic neuroma - a type of tumor that develops in the inner ear. She was recently denied short and also long-term disability. Friends, relatives and local businesses are stepping up to help Monica.

Monica is currently undergoing beginning treatments and collaborating with the mayo clinic in Minnesota. As of Aug. 24, it was decided Monica's first surgery will take place at the mayo clinic In Minnesota, on October 24th.

The silent auction bidding begins at 5 p.m.
At 6 p.m, the musical talents of Tangled Souls will provide out outdoor entertainment.
50/50 cash raffle tickets are available NOW at Burgey's and through 8pm the night of the benefit.

Monica will draw the winner by 9 p.m.; you do not need to be present to win.
