OCHS Alum Rodriguez Named Horizon League's Best Freshman
Rodriguez among league leaders in several statistical categories.
UW-Milwaukee freshman and 2010 Oak Creek High School graduate Angela Rodriguez has been named the Horizon League Newcomer of the Year.
Rodriguez, a guard on the UWM women's basketball team, is among league leaders in three-point field-goal percentage (2nd, 42 percent), free-throw percentage (4th, 85 percent) and three-point field goals made (6th, 2.2 per game), according to a Horizon League news release.
League coaches, sports information directors and media voted on the award.

Rodriguez has provided quite a spark for the Panthers in just her first year. She has started 28 out of 29 games and averaged 12.5 points and 2.9 assists per game. Her 64 made three-pointers are the most for a freshman in school history, according to a school news release.
The Panthers are seeded fifth in the Horizon League tournament and will play Wright State on Wednesday.

Rodriguez had a , finishing third on the school's all-time scoring list and winning all-conference and all-state honors.
