Officer Can't Wake Drunk Driver, Goes To His Mom's House: Report
When an Oak Creek police officer couldn't wake a drunk driver who was behind the wheel, he went to his mom's house for keys, reports say.
OAK CREEK, WI -- When an Oak Creek police officer couldn't wake up an 18-year-old drunk driver who fell asleep behind the wheel on Highway 100, the officer drove to his mother's house to get an extra set of car keys, according to reports.
According to Oak Creek police reports, an officer on patrol near the 1500 block of E. Highway 100 just before 4 a.m. on March 23 saw the driver of a dark-colored sedan stopped in the right turn lane in the road's westbound lane.
Reports stated that the officer stopped his squad car and walked up to the suspicious vehicle, only to find that the man had passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle. The vehicle was running and in drive, according to the report.

Police said the officer couldn't managed to wake up the driver, so they officer put a spike strip in front of the rear tire.
According to reports, the officer next drove to the driver's mother's house where they were able to get a car key. The officer returned to the same intersection where the driver was asleep. The officer unlocked the vehicle, put it in park, and roused the driver.

Police said he admitted to drinking three beers, however failed standard field sobriety tests, and returned a 0.11 blood alcohol concentration on a preliminary breath test - greater than the legal limit for drunk driving in Wisconsin.
Police said he was cited for his first drunk driving offense and was turned over his mother at the police department.
