Onlooker Finds Man Passed Out In Running Car With 2 Kids: Report

OAK CREEK, WI -- Police in Oak Creek say an onlooker called authorities after he saw a man passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in the Wendy's parking lot with two young children in the back seat.

According to Oak Creek police reports, the onlooker called police, saying that it appeared that a man was passed out in his vehicle with two young children in the car's back seat.

Police responded to the Wendy's parking lot on the 7900 block of S. Howell Ave. just before 4 p.m. on April 29 and found the man in a Toyota Crossover, just as it was described by the onlooker.

When police investigated, they saw that the car was running but was in park with the man passed out. When police roused the man, he told police that he picked up his daughters from school in Greenfield and was on his way back home to Oak Creek, reports stated.

Reports also said that the man admitted to drinking two rum and Cokes in the last 12 hours. He refused a blood alcohol test, and staff saw that he began having tremors that required medical attention.

Police in their reports noted that the man was transported to Ascension hospital for care and for a blood draw. He was treated, later released and cited for driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated with passengers less than 16 years old in the vehicle.

Police stated that a relative took the two daughters home.
