OAK CREEK, WI — Two peregrine falcons named Michael and Essity have laid their egg in the nesting box at the Oak Creek Power Plant, We Energies announced Tuesday in a news release.

It's the first falcon egg of 2022 nesting season at We Energies' four nesting boxes spread across power plants in Wisconsin, the company said. Peregrine parents Michael and Essity will take turns incubating their egg in the coming weeks, and if everything goes well, the first chicks are expected to be seen in just over a month.

The company began installing peregrine falcon boxes on power plants in the early 1990s, and through the course of the program, We Energies says 421 peregrine falcons have been hatched in them.
