Phony Bruce Springsteen Tries Defrauding Oak Creek Woman
Police advised a woman to take precautions after they say she became tangled in an online chat with a man claiming to be Bruce Springsteen.

OAK CREEK, WI — Police in Oak Creek advised a woman to take precautions after they say she became tangled in an online interaction with a man claiming to be Bruce Springsteen.
Oak Creek police responded to the Lake Forest Apartment on Oct. 30 on a report of fraud.
According to police reports, an Oak Creek woman reported engaging in conversation on Twitter with a person who said he was Bruce Springsteen. She reportedly started following him on Twitter, and gave him her full name and address, during the course of their Twitter interactions.

According to police reports, the woman reported that after a lengthy email conversation with "Bruce Springsteen," he asked her personal questions. The woman became suspicious of his intentions.
According to reports, the woman was now receiving bothersome telephone calls and text messages from an unknown subscriber from Newark, N.J. and emails from him asking for $300.

Police in their reports, indicated that they advised her to unfriend the phony "Bruce Springsteen," block suspicious phone numbers, and to not give out personal identification information to strangers. Police further advised her on how to protect herself from fraud.
