Piggly Wiggly Employee Fired After Drinking $1.79 Soda: Report

The store manager told Oak Creek police that her employment with Piggly Wiggly had been terminated.

OAK CREEK, WI — Oak Creek police responded to the Piggly Wiggly grocery store, 2201 E. Rawson Ave., on April 6 on a report of a woman who drank a soda worth $1.79.

According to police reports, Oak Creek police were called to the grocery store just before 3:30 p.m. on April 6 for an employee theft case.

Police reports state that a store employee saw the woman take a soda from the cooler at 11 a.m. and drink it during her shift without paying for it. Reports stated that the employee saw her take the bottle into the break room and throw it into the trash. She then ended her work shift without paying for the soda.

According to police reports, the soda was worth $1.79. Another store manager told police that he wanted to be named as a party in the criminal complaint over this - and other suspected retail thefts.

The store manager told Oak Creek police that her employment with Piggly Wiggly had been terminated and that she would not be allowed back in Piggly Wiggly.
