Police Catch Six Accused In Meijer Theft: Report

Police said that all six were arrested on suspicion of retail theft.

OAK CREEK, WI -- Police in Oak Creek say they caught a group of people responsible for stealing more than $1,000 from the local Meijer. According to reports, officers responded to the Meijer just after 2 a.m. on Sep. 29 on a report of a retail theft.

According to Oak Creek police reports, an officer on patrol learned that a group of people attempting to conceal items in a shopping cart walked out of the Meijer and turned up later that evening at the Towne Place Marriott.

Police said they found all six people implicated in the retail theft in the hotel parking lot. They were attempting to hide from police when they arrived, police said.

According to police, officers conducted a search and found the items missing from Meijer - totaling $1,371.55, according to reports.

Police said that all six were arrested on suspicion of retail theft. Three people were turned over to other Milwaukee-area police departments on outstanding arrest warrants. The three others were booked and later released.
