Police Dog Finds Marijuana Hidden In Squad Car: Report

Police say a man who was arrested tried disposing of his marijuana by hiding it in the squad car that he was detained in. It didn't work.

OAK CREEK, WI — Police in Oak Creek say a 54-year-old South Milwaukee man faces a couple extra citations after they found his discarded bag of marijuana stuck in a squad car.

According to Oak Creek police call logs, officers conducted a traffic stop on Sept. 6. During the course of the traffic stop, the man was arrested and temporarily placed in the back of the squad. Once in the back of the squad, Police said the man reached into the groin area of his pants, removed a baggie, and threw it through an opening between the cage and the trim of the squad.

Police call logs stated that officers were initially tipped off after the squad started smelling like marijuana. When police investigated, K9 officer Nox was called in, and found the marijuana bag stuck in a hard-to-see area of the squad.

When officers investigated, police said they reviewed squad video surveillance footage, when they saw what happened. The total weight of the marijuana was 4.2 grams, police said.

According to police, the man was released from the traffic stop on Sept. 6, and a new warrant for his arrest has been issued.
